Even a piece as classic and stylish as the Pearl can benefit from a pick me up. A little nip tuck to remind us all why the spotlight on them should never be dimmed.  Right now thanks to eloquent hands of Magpie favourites Smith/Grey and design houses such as Chanel pearls are burning brighter than ever before as we see them being showcased in a new and alluring light.

Over at Chanel it is all about playing with perspective as we see exaggerated feature pearls teamed with their familiar infant sister to create stunning statement necklaces and cuffs.

In their latest  collection;’ Pearlgatory’,  Smith/Grey demonstrate just how versatile the pearl can be. Moving the pearl out of the realms of  dainty and graceful the design duo  have set and encased pearls in graphic metals to produce a fresh contemporary edgy aesthetic.  My Favourite pieces in the collection  lie with their solo statement earrings with the captivating  ‘ Monastery of Pearls’  and the gothic luxe ‘Tiny Sin Pendant‘ taking centre stage for me.
