I’m so lucky that my life as  Magpie takes me to some amazing events and introduces me to some great designers  and fun people .  This weekend I sat down to cocktails and brunch at the historic boutique Andaz Hotel in Liverpool Street with the team from  Designers Makers  ( an agency which supports homegrown UK talent) and fellow bloggers Sophia at Tshirt and Tails and Jordan from Made in Shoreditch.

Claude: the face of Andaz goes Ape, the delicious Monkey Business Cocktail, the DM Ape brooch designed by I am Acrylic for the celebrations.

Putting a tropical spin on the  yuletide season the Andaz hotel has joined forces with neighbour The Old Spitalfelds Market, Ravensbourne Collage on local artist Bobby Patmore for their Christmas celebration: ‘Andaz Goes Ape’.   During the festive season guests and diners can sample the delights of a tropical flavoured Xmas menu and all are welcome and encouraged to  visit Claude the Santa Gorilla and gaze at the installation  by Ravensbourne Collage.

Golden monkeys designed by Bobby Patmore and Ravensbourne College.

The Andaz hotel aren’t the only ones getting involved in the festive fun, all the monthly markets hosted  at The Old Spitalfields Market have been going ape as the keepers of the Golden Bananas.  Find out here how discovering one of these bananas can win you a whole host of goodies including a stay at the hotel.

Right that’s enough monkeying around ( sorry I couldn’t resist) on to the jewels…

As well  proving business support and an online  retail platform for their members, Designer’s Makers (DM) also hosts a monthly market at Old Spitalfields.  For the Christmas season DM not only supersized the The Old Spitalfields Market boasting 60 of the UK’s prime talent but they also hosted a 2nd market on London’s iconic Southbank.

After brunch the  jewel hunting commenced and here is who  I found.
