BY ROYAL APPOINTMENT

As you may recall the talented visionary Shana Edwards of Lewa Jewels was my ‘crown jewels’ of African Fashion Week: London 2013 .   When we bumped into each other a few weeks ago at the IJL she informed me of her exciting news. Edwards  has  been selected as  one of the first set of designers to take up residency at the Prince’s Trust boutique: ‘Tomorrow’s Store’.

10 Prince’s Trust supported entrepreneurs have been given a platform to showcase their products in the first ever Prince’s Trust store which opened a couple of weeks ago near London Liverpool Street station. Whilst the store will remain a permanent fixture the designers they  showcase will change seasonally.

For the store Shana has selected a range of her beaded statement African necklaces. The double layered pieces are handmade by Edwards who makes her own African beads by crystallising warm rich African prints in resin.

A few other jewellery designers who caught my eye in the store were:

The cut-out patterns in Kirsteen Stewart’s designs give her jewellery a fresh contemporary feel.  I’m slightly obsessed with the tribal-esque markings on her bangles.

ckA swirl of spring. I love these glass rosebud studs from Irish designer Catherine Keenan . Who uses the technique of glass blowing to create her colour pop pieces.
